Oxygen from Omaha, NE:
Acoustic rock:
Formed in 2003, Oxygen is Brent Cerny on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Bryan Scherbring on electric guitar and backing vocals, Yale Thomas on bass and backing vocals, Jason Mateljan on drums and percussion. Oxygen has respectfully earned a grassroots following throughout the Midwest and the west coast with their catchy hooks and good sense of songwriting. In early 2005, Oxygen released “Volume 1”, a 7-song disc filled with emotional balance, haunting melodies, and a feeling of one big beach party sure to not be missed. Oxygen has played with an abundance of national bands such as Incubus, Blue October, The Urge, Chevelle, The Nadas, The Samples, The Verve Pipe, Roger Clyne, Tantric, and many more. Their most recent accomplishments include 3rd place in “American Songwriter’s Magazine with their song “All my heroes” which can be picked up at Tower Records, Barnes and Noble Bookstores, and Books A Million.
Oxygen has also finished in the suggested artist category for VH1’s “Song of the year” with “All my heroes” as well as finishing in the finalists category in the “International Acoustic Music Awards” and the “Nashville International Song and Lyric Competition” with “All my heroes”. Currently, Oxygen is being played on over 40 radio stations around the world, as well as an abundance of internet radio. In 2005, at the request of major label Atlantic Records, Oxygen shot a live taping of their show at Mick's Place in Omaha, NE.
These four passionate songwriters were brought together by fate, will, and a want to reach out to the hard working American people who might be trapped by everyday life. "If you want to get away and find yourself on a new level of listening pleasure, be sure to take this band in, it's great therapy for the soul, many life lesson's in Oxygen's music", say's Tim O'Shea from West Coast Music. Oxygen strives on staying true to the music, the fan's, and most important, each other!
