Brian Hartzog could very-well be Charlotte's poster boy for indie music. As a songwriter, a performer, an engineer, and a producer, Hartzog has created two top-quality full-length CDs in his own home studio. Now, in the face of massive radio consolidation and the record company's "sue the file-sharer" mentality, Hartzog has declared his own assault on the industry, published on his website in a written manifesto. One-Way Ticket, Hartzog's latest release, is a mixture of funk, punk, and rock and roll. With influences as diverse as Prince, the Beatles, RadioHead, and the spoken-word poets, Brian Hartzog's music is most definitely "alternative". He calls it "funk and roll".
