Nik Phillips, as one of Australia's most remarkable musical artists, creates music with deep passion and honesty. His songs are often contemplative, positive; sometimes dark but definitely unique. His music has a very contemporary sound that appeals to most listeners. Nik's style ranges from pop/roots through to alternative/country. As a songwriter, he creates a colorful picture with lyrics and emotional melody.
Breaking & Entering is an unusual name for a band but quite sensible for their fresh outlook to outlaw country and protest to rock. The band has its unique sound that most people from all walks of life can enjoy. Each member comes from New York, Illinois, and Missouri; thus each one contributes personal style the over-all sound and style of the Breaking & Entering Band.
Mark Buck, who can play solo or with a band, is fond of playing blues jazz and funk. As a soloist, Mark is quite adept on performing with an acoustic guitar, a slide, and a box of harp. When with his band, Derrick Mcintyre plays bass and Justin Hildreth mans the drums. Mark supported John Hammond in 2007; then performed solo a year after to follow John's advice. Mark's music favors finger-style funk and blues guitar, blended with a groove and a neat slide playing on the side.
Based in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Jay Morgan was known as an unenthusiastic but utterly forceful musician. He has an inspiring way of spouting ungoverned and unceremonious verses that adds life and color to his wretched tales. Jay Morgan did not use any volume, gimmick, or guitar trickery but his words always hit the listeners hard.
Silk Brocade, as described by Ken Mahren, has a distinctive style of music. The acoustic guitar impressionism is the soul of Silk Brocade. The band created an impressive collection that was influenced by New Age, Folk, Jazz, and Classical Guitar. Most of the musical pieces that the band has written were inspired by Mussorgsky's 'Picture at an Exhibition', where each piece included is an acoustic guitar 'story'.
Rick Yost taught himself on playing the guitar after his brother showed him the chords to 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' at age 13. In his 20s, Rick started playing as a sideman for Don Stecker and Bob Ackerman. In 1986, the first Rick Yost Group was a 3-piece that plays electric, rock, and blues. After a year, Rick went solo. In 1999, he recorded his first CD, 'Wichita Falls'. He won the 2001 Wildflower Festival National Songwriting Competition. At present, he owns a nightclub called Pearl.
Harry Marx, well-known as the 'Mysticssippi' blues man, is considered as the essential link between the music of East and West. Harry is fond of creating short stories with his music, which merge the tradition of the Blues and the depth of classical Indian ragas. His unique sound is easy to the ears and quite unforgettable. Most people find Harry Marx's music addictive to listen to.
